Take your GraniteSD and
M:Drive (OneDrive)
files with you when you leave. Or they will lost 4eva!
Employees TOO!

READ THIS WHOLE PAGE FIRST!

  • It is your work KEEP IT.
  • You might have younger siblings that may need it! ;)
  • You might have the same (or similar) assignments in college.
  • You might want that information later in life.
  • Ten years from now it will be fun to look at it.  You'll thank me!
  • Your children will be impressed and wonder what PowerPoint was!

First.  Clean UP!
I suggest…
  • Make a new folder on your desktop call it “From Granite PC” or similar.  Move (click and drag) files you want to keep into that folder.  Leave the rest to be deleted.
  • Save any e-mail attachments to this folder.
  • Clean up your GraniteSD (Google) Drive by deleting what you do NOT want.
  • Make a folder called "Canvas courses" and export your Canvas courses. Save that exported file in this new folder. (Just in case you come back to teaching!)
Second. Combine
Get all your files in one spot.
  • Upload the folder you just created on your PC to your GraniteSD account.
  • Everything is in one spot right?

Why "Clean-up"?

Both these accounts have un-limited storage.  Personal accounts do NOT. So you will not have as much space unless you purchase more.  So get rid of files!

Then do the following in Google (I would do all 3!)

Google Account - https://myaccount.google.com

1. Download it. (click the link above)
  • Click "Privacy and Personalization) then scroll down to Download or Delete Data
  • Click on Download data.
  • Select "None" then re-select what you DO WANT.  Probably just Drive, e-mail, Bookmarks,
  • Click "Next"
  • Delivery Method - "e-mail a link" to your personal account.
  • One-Time archive
  • File type = ".zip"
  • Archive size. go big, but make sure you have a hard drive (thumb drive) large enough for it.
  • I have NO IDEA how long it will take - It depends on how much you have. Wait for the e-mail. Download the archive to your drive or home computer.
  • IF you are the owner of ANY SHARED files or folders.  The documents will "disappear" for them.  Same with you - if any are shared with you and the owner is leaving their files will be deleted.

2.  Transfer the account
Allows you to "Transfer" to another account all your Google content.
  • I would create a brand new Google account and call it something like "Me_In_HighSchool" then it is not mixed in with your personal stuff.
  • Transfer should be the easy way.  Log in with your GraniteSD account and transfer to your 'new' personal account.
  • Get the code. Transfer.  Wait. Easy!
  • Not sure what happens if you don't have enough space!

Or, Vice-Versa! Download it?
I would do this also!
3. Download your Google Drive
Download your documents to your M:Drive.  Then drag and drop it to an External USB drive.  Easy.  Easy to lose also!  Put this drive in your treasure chest!

Sharing is NOT enough!

  • If you SHARE documents/folders with others (including a different account of your own), they will loose access to your documents as your account(s) will no longer work..
  • In Google you can Share a folder, then make that person the owner.  OR they can make a copy of your folder.
