Teachers | Student Set up | Student Use

For Ms. Weeds class on Wed/Thurs FOLLOW THESE instructions!

USE YOUR Canvas page to get the correct link and code to join the class!!!
Use Gale Biography to find your person. OR the search engine page and Biographies!

Use these tags:  Intro, Legend, Matthew Effect, 10,000-Hour Rule, Timing, Luck, Intelligence, Support.
Create some commentary for each piece of information you tag. How does it relate to that part of Gladwell's theory?

We will be adding notes (commentary) and tags to 7 sources!  And by we I mean.. You!  (I will help you.)
Please do not think that is a lot.  It is ONLY 7!

To REMOVE the sources/Annotations/Highlights we practiced with...
Go to the Annotation in Scrible. Click on the Arrow to take you to the source/website.
Click on the annotation and click the trash can.
If you remove "The Source" it is supposed to remove the annotations too.  BUT it does not. #Sad

Using the tool bar

Use these websites as directed below! One | Two | Three | Four | Five
  • Go to site 1 above and click the big red S (Scible extension) in your tool bar at the top right.  That will save the website even IF you do not annotate it.
  • Click the highlighter at the bottom. (Highlighting is ONE TYPE of annotation)
  • Highlight the text you want.  (Any text for now)
  • Click your highlighted text!  A box shows up.
  • Click the "Tag" icon. Tag it as "evidence" so you can sort it later.
  • Click the Highlighted section again. A box shows up.
  • Click on the "Comment" icon. The tab on the right opens.  Make a comment.  that says "Comment about highlighted text."
  • When you are done using ANY TOOL you MUST "put it back" by clicking the tool at the bottom AGAIN.
  • ----
  • Go to sites 2 and 3 above and "Scrible" on them.  USE the same TAG called "evidence" the same way as above..
  • On site 4 add the tag "introduction"
  • On site 5 add add the tag "conclusion"

You can also (check your teachers instructions for specific Annotations)
  • Underline, change color, bold some selected text on the pages you have saved.
  • Perhaps you underline all important dates (as an example)

Using the website

The website stores all your pages (that you "Scribled" on) and you can edit them here as well.
  • I think it is best to "Annotate" your sources AT the source... go to the website.
  • Filter by tags.  Even if you have tags on different websites (sources) you can filter (view) by those tags!  For example one tag could or should be "evidence."  You should have that tag on quite a few sources.  When you filter by that tag you will see... only the items you tagged with "evidence"
  • You CAN add tags here (from Scrible website) in order to be able to organize your ideas.
  • There are many other tools here. You CAN use them, but that is NOT our current intention.
Click each of these see them and what the can do. Annotation Tab, Bibliography, Outline, Paper, Metrics.

Using the Add-On

  • Be sure it is installed first!
  • Then Open THIS Google Doc  and make a copy of it.
